In case nobody has told, I’m going to let you in on a little secret… you don’t have to have wedding cake if you don’t want to! (Gasp!) While a wedding cake has become a traditional part of the wedding, non-traditional wedding desserts and sweet ideas are catching on just as quick!

So what are the options if you don’t want a wedding cake?! Well I’m happy to share some alternative tasty treats!

Donuts

Some weddings like to incorporate donuts in the form of a donut wall, attached their wedding cake, or even just nicely display amongst other sweets. While they’re often used in addition to other desserts, it’s okay to let them take center stage in the dessert realm of your wedding day.

Pies

Scrumptious and filled with variety, pies are such a great wedding cake alternative! From apple to pumpkin to even a brownie pie (yes, it’s delicious!) nobody will even know the cake was “missing!”

Cupcakes

Not only are incorporating cupcakes a little more budget friendly, you also are usually able to include more flavors and fillings than you would with your traditional wedding cake. If you’re not a cake fan overall, then you may opt against these as well, but there’s something about these “mini-cakes” that just make them feel different than a traditional cake.

Cookies

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to a wedding with a cookie table. But if you have, then you know it’s always a crowd pleaser! Include grandma’s secret recipe or your local bakery’s signature cookie. On second thought, why not both?!

Cheesecake

Whether you’re a fan of rich and decadent or sweet and tart, get an assortment of your favorite flavors and create your own cheesecake display.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate, you can’t go wrong with this delicious treat! If you’re a fruit lover you could also expand and include bananas, pineapple, and more!

Macarons

I’m sure you’ve seen images floating around Pinterest with cakes designed from this French inspired biscuit, but this is one dessert that is really catching on. If you’re not a fan of the whole cake design, you can display colorful trays of these sweet treats. Either way, it’s bound to have a romantic appeal!
