Every bride envisions how she’s going to look walking down the aisle the day of her wedding. As she should! Your wedding day is such a special one and deserves to be treated as such. With that said, you’re going to want a hair and makeup artist that knows how to deliver on your vision. With the help of Marsi of Brite Bar Beauty, we’re sharing tips and tricks to help you feel confident in choosing your wedding hair and makeup artist!
There are a wide variety of options when it comes to choosing your wedding hair and makeup artist. Sometimes you’ll have one person doing both and in other cases you may have one team coming to do hair and another team coming to do the makeup. Another thing to consider is if you want on-location or in-house. It’s important to see if the person or team that you want can accommodate your request in that aspect.
While each wedding beauty vendor is slightly different, the process is all pretty similar for the most part.
Marsi of Brite Bar Beauty: “Beauty services for a bride is a fairly simple process. The first step is chat with us about the bridal beauty vision. What is the bride’s ideal look for her wedding day? Once we know what they desire and a little more about their aesthetic, we typically schedule the bridal trial appointment. We highly recommend doing a trial so that any adjustments can be made before the wedding day. It also helps for the artists to have the time before to get really get to know the bride, her hair, and her skin and look.
We recommend scheduling the trial the same day as the bridal portraits. Bridesmaids and the bridal party are important too. It’s best to have everyone’s hair and makeup done professionally so that the wedding photographs are cohesive and everyone feels and looks their best.”
Marsi of Brite Bar Beauty: The earlier a bride can schedule the more likely she is to secure her date. With that said, since Brite Bar Beauty is a professional company with multiple artists around DFW, we can accommodate multiple weddings on the same day.
Check out portfolios (which in most cases is Instagram) to get a sense of the hair stylist or make up artists style.
Having a trial run before hand is super helpful! Not only will it allow you to make the necessary adjustments ahead of time, but also put your mind at ease.
Hair is best if washed the day or night before for a curated style.
Skin should be clean and moisturized. Lips should be exfoliated and moisturized too.
In-house or on-location?
Is there a travel fee for on-location?
Ask for recommendations on what things you can do to prep your hair and skin so it looks flawless the day of the wedding!
Does your potential vendor specialize in bridal hair and/or makeup? (Seeing what their experience level may not only effect how your hair and makeup looks in photos, but also alter the details of your wedding timeline.)
Some wedding hair and makeup artists require a minimum number of people. Try to get an idea who in your bridal party, mothers, grandmothers, etc. would want their hair and makeup done beforehand.
Most times brides underestimate how much a wedding hairstylist and makeup artist cost to perform bridal services. Make sure to factor this into your wedding budget!
