Tell me about your love story!
The first time Zach and I met was in 5th grade in purple pod at Bear Creek Intermediate School. I always thought he was cute and had a secret crush on him, but I was too shy to do anything about it. I even asked by mom several times if we could stop by and watch “Chachi” play in his soccer game after my game was over (we played for the same soccer club).
One year later, in 6th grade, (I had moved to a new house and a new school), we met up at the Keller High School homecoming game. He then asked if I would like to go out with him. Naturally, I said yes since I had a massive crush on him. We went on our first date with some friends to see Wallace and Gromit at North East Mall. We were both nervous and only hugged each other after the movie due to pressure from our friends.
The next day, I got a call from him breaking up with me, his reason being that he wanted to go out with someone else. Later that evening I get several calls from him and his friends asking if I would go back out with him again (I’m assuming at this point that the other girl said no) to which I replied with a hard no as well. For those that know him, this was the only point in his life where he was a “player.”
The next time we met again was freshman year of high school in Mrs. Carlson’s class where him and his friends referred to me as “stingy” for reasons I still don’t understand. Surprisingly at this point, I still felt the same way about him. He always took my breath away, almost literally since I couldn’t find the words to tell him how I felt until 2 years later.
We finally started talking junior year when we were in Mr. Salge’s physics class together. I messaged him saying that I “needed help with my homework.” For those that know me, we all know that wasn’t the case. We started talking about old times, hanging out together, and finally started dating. After that, the rest was history. We dated throughout college while I was at UT in Austin and him at Duke in North Carolina. We even stuck together while he pursued soccer professionally in Seattle and me starting my nursing career in Houston. Thank goodness Zach’s dad, Dwain, is a pilot and got Zach flights for free!
History in the Making!
I met the love of my life in 5th grade and through all of the 8 years that we’ve been dating, I have never once second guessed my decision to be with him. I knew he was the one I wanted to be with the moment that I saw him. We choose each other on a daily basis and I could not be any luckier to share the rest of my life with such an amazing person. We are excited to be getting married and ending our 6 years of long distance (finally) with all of our friends and family surrounding us.
What are a few things you love about each other?
Ariele about Zach: The best thing that I love about Zach is that he is sweet! Everyone that asks, I give this answer. It seems lame or cliché, but I really do mean it! He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body.
Zach about Ariele: Honestly, I think the thing that I love about Ariele the most is that she cooks amazing food. I also loves how fearlessly she protects her loved ones.
Where was your first kiss?
Our first kiss was outside of his moms house when he was walking me to my car. He was too shy to kiss me, so he went in for a hug and I just kind of stood there and went for it! Best decision ever!
What is your favorite thing to do together?
This may also sound lame, but Netflix and chill. And by chill, I mean laying on the couch in comfy pajamas, fluffy blankets, and Chinese take out. After being apart so long in our relationship, its the simple things that we cherish the most.
How did you come up with your wedding theme or color scheme?
We looked it up on Pinterest and they were the only colors we could agree on!
Tell me about any special tradition or sentimental things you’re adding to the wedding.
We have this board that has plane tickets attached to it that we have been saving. Each plane ticket that is on the board is a flight that one of us took to see each other over our 6 years of long distance. These tickets have meant so much to us over the years and we framed them to hang above our bed once we are married. They are a constant reminder of how much we have gone through to get where we are and a reminder that it has all been worth the wait.

What was one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning?
Its honestly been the last month of planning. We’ve planned so much over the past year that my steam has started to die out not to mention its so close!!
Where are you going on your honeymoon?
We are going to Hawaii, Maui as well as Kauai to be more specific. We have never been and, of course, are so excited.
