Tell us about your love story!

I first moved to Texas in September of 2015 and I didn’t know anyone. So of course I set out right away to make friends in this new place. Shortly after, I found out one of my good friends from the airline industry lived here and he invited me out on his boat. We rode up to a lake side restaurant to meet up with his neighbors. When I walked in, I immediately noticed Shane because he was staring right at me, not to mention he was cute! What I didn’t know then was this was the guy I was going to spend the rest of my life with. I thought he was so cute but he didn’t say much to me that night. A few nights later I spend the night on the boat again with my friend and Shane tagged along. He ended up talking to me the ENTIRE night. We went on a few dates after that and started to figure out we has something special. We became each other’s best friends quickly and the rest is history.

What do you love most about each other?

Brooke: What I love about Shane is how he makes me feel. I’ve never felt so beautiful and loved by someone that wasn’t my family. He makes me laugh, he has so much compassion for others and he has one the biggest hearts. In addition, he also loves the LORD and that means everything to me!

Shane: I love Brooks inner-child, athleticism, and ability to talk and become friends with just about anyone. Additionally, I love her loyalty, compassion, and selflessness. There are so many things i love about this girl but most importantly I love how we make each other better, and how much we’ve grew in our relationship with God together. I am looking forward to grow more as a couple.

How did you come up with your wedding theme or color scheme?

I knew I loved the idea of having a winter wedding because we both love the outdoors. We toured the Brooks at Weatherford and it had the woodsy feel I was looking for. There are three fire pits on the property and one allows for us to have s’mores during the reception. Getting married in a church was high on my list of what i needed in a venue. I also knew I wanted to get married in a church, and this venue has the most stunning little chapel for the ceremony. I wanted a wintery feel but no Christmas vibes so that is how I came up with burgundy or wine colors (plus I love wine) to make it more of a deeper and moody feel.

Tell us about any sentimental pieces you’re adding to the wedding.

We both lost someone close to us, and wish they could have been at the wedding. Shane lost his dad, and I lost my grandma. We will have their pictures somewhere at the wedding for a memorial type thing. My grandma gave me her wedding dress a week before she passed, so I’m having some of her’s sewn into my dress. I will also have one of her brooches with me on my bouquet.

Any wedding planning tips for future couples?

The biggest tip I can give is to just RELAX and enjoy thing time with your fiance. It all comes together one way or another. One way to avoid stress that I found helpful is to make sure you have a timeline and a checklist to stick to. This will ensure you get everything done. If you don’t get things done in the correct order or on time its alright. There isn’t one way to plan a wedding to make it fun and make it memorable. Secondly, remember it’s YOUR day. The two of you, not your moms, your aunts, or your friends. It’s YOURS!!

What was one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning?

The most stressful was definitely just keeping track of the little things that needed to be done.
