Tell me about your love story! How did you meet? What do you love about each other? How did you know it was meant to be?
Hannah and I met on Match.com (I still want to be on one of the commercials). After sparking her interest with my witty comments about Disney World (her profile mentioned she loved it and I had moved from Orlando, FL not too long ago) along with some comments about potato chips Hannah agreed to go out on a date with me. Our first date was at Bowen House in Uptown Dallas for some cocktails. It was awkward, Hannah thought I hated her due to some awkward silences and unintentional staring, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Our second date was at Sevan G&G off Greenville Ave. for some BYOB Greek. The rest is history.
How did you come up with your wedding theme or color scheme?
We both wanted to keep the theme simple and elegant to match the venue, The Room on Main. We chose to go with neutral colors and simple greenery to compliment it.
Tell us about any special tradition or sentimental things you’re adding to the wedding.
Brett’s family has a chuppah that several members of his family have been married under. His Grammy stitches the names and date of each couple on it.
Any wedding planning tips for future couples?
It is very stressful. Acknowledge and accept that and work through it as a couple. We did this by usually having a bottle of wine or working through things in public at our favorite bar across the street where throwing your glass would be frowned upon.
What was one of the most stressful parts of wedding planning?
Don’t try to make everyone happy. Between trying to accommodate siblings sitting at the table they want, what food items are on the menu, and what hotel your blocking rooms at, you need to realize there is no way you can make everyone happy. Make sure to prioritize what is most important. To go along with prioritizing what is the most important it is extremely important to acknowledge your budget and be realistic with what that will get you. Try to keep some to the side as things will come up and headcounts will change and having some reserve will be needed. Trust me IT WILL BE NEEDED.
